Summary
Expands veteran eligibility for VA homelessness benefits. This bill would broaden the legal definition of "veteran" in 38 U.S.C. §2002 so more people qualify for homelessness help regardless of how long they served, whether they served in active or reserve components, or whether they still serve.

If enacted, more people would count as veterans for VA homelessness help. You would qualify if you were discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable and not because of a general court-martial. It would not matter how long you served, if you were active duty or reserve, or if you still serve. The bill would also update the service check rules for these programs, which could let more applicants meet the minimum service test.
