Analyzed Economic Effects
2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.
Faster damage checks outside the mainland
If enacted, FEMA would set up a pilot within 1 year. The pilot would use new technology to do preliminary damage checks in communities outside the mainland (noncontiguous) where a major disaster is declared. FEMA would prioritize the most remote places. FEMA would brief Congress within 3 years on how it went. The pilot would end on September 30, 2030. This could help residents and small businesses get disaster help faster.
FEMA staffing improvements for remote areas
After the required study is done, FEMA would revise its policies, guidance, or rules. The goal would be better hiring, recruiting, and keeping staff who serve communities outside the mainland. These changes could improve emergency help and coordination in those areas. This is administrative and would not directly change household money.
