Diplomatic-style protections for certain international groups
If enacted, the President could extend diplomatic-style privileges to ASEAN, CERN, the Pacific Islands Forum, and CARICOM under the existing IOIA framework. The President would set the terms and conditions. The bill would also allow the African Union Mission and its permanent observer mission to the United Nations in New York, and their members, to receive the same privileges that UN permanent missions of member states enjoy, with the same conditions and duties. Any extensions would follow how the U.S. treats other public international organizations it joins by treaty or law. It would take effect upon enactment.
