More export checks for U.S. exporters
This bill would create an Export Control Officer Program at Commerce. The Secretary would have 90 days to start the program and pick a Director. The program would run for 5 years and place at least 20 officers at U.S. embassies or consulates. Officers would do end-use checks, advise diplomatic posts, do industry outreach, and work with foreign governments. If enacted, exporters of Bureau-controlled items would likely face more compliance checks and contacts.
