Earlier water settlement findings stay in place
If enacted, this bill would not change earlier findings that certain settlement conditions were fully met. It would keep the Secretary’s Federal Register findings from October 7, 2016 and September 15, 2017 in place.
More funding for New Mexico tribal water projects
If enacted, the government would add adjusted‑interest deposits to three tribal water funds in New Mexico. It would authorize $6,357,674.46 for the Navajo Nation fund, $7,794,297.52 for the Taos Pueblo fund, and $4,314,709.18 for the Aamodt Pueblos’ fund. These amounts would be on top of money already provided under prior law and would be deposited upon enactment.
Waives past interest on Aamodt water funds
If enacted, the Treasury would waive payments to the United States that come from interest earned before September 15, 2017 on Aamodt settlement amounts under section 617(c)(1)(A). The waiver would apply only to that past interest.
