New location test for Medicare rural clinics
The bill would update how Medicare decides if a clinic is in a rural place. It would use the Census term "urban area" with a population of 50,000 or more. Some clinics could newly qualify as Rural Health Clinics, and others could lose RHC status. That could change clinic payments and local access to RHC services. The change would start January 1, 2027.
