Lower student loan rates for servicemembers
This bill would limit interest to 6% per year on obligations you incur while serving to consolidate or refinance student loans you took before service. It would cover Title IV federal student loans and private education loans as defined in federal law. The 6% cap would apply to loans you take alone or jointly with your spouse while you remain in military service. The bill would also clarify which paragraph’s cap applies and say the 6% limit for these new consolidation or refinance loans starts on the date you incur the obligation.
