If enacted, this bill would stop States, D.C., and territories from banning or limiting someone from buying real property because of their citizenship. The U.S. Attorney General would be able to enforce that rule. If a State, D.C., or territory tries to enforce a preempted law, you would be able to bring a civil lawsuit in federal court. If you prevail, the court would be able to issue an injunction to stop enforcement. The change would take effect upon enactment.
