Pipeline and LNG security program
If enacted, this bill would direct the Secretary of Energy to run a program to improve physical security and cybersecurity for natural gas pipelines, hazardous liquid pipelines, and liquefied natural gas facilities. The Department of Energy would work with federal agencies, states, energy companies, and other stakeholders. The program would create coordination policies, lead coordinated incident response, develop voluntary cybersecurity tools and technologies, run pilot demonstrations, build workforce training, and provide technical assessment tools. Participation by pipeline and LNG operators would be voluntary. The bill would also say it does not change other federal agencies' existing authority over pipeline physical or cyber security.
