HR8403119th CongressWALLET

To amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to modify the definition of food.

Sponsored By: Representative Crawford

Introduced

Summary

Adds hot rotisserie chicken to the list of foods SNAP recipients could buy. H.R. 8403 would amend Section 3(k)(1) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to list hot rotisserie chicken as an authorized purchase with SNAP benefits. It also makes two drafting edits by replacing the word "clauses" with "paragraphs" and removing the phrase "of this subsection." The change expands the statutory definition of SNAP-eligible food and would let SNAP households use benefits to buy hot rotisserie chicken at stores that accept SNAP.
