Consumer price statements for major rules
If enacted, agencies would publish a Consumer Price Information Statement when they propose any major rule. The statement would describe possible price effects on energy (electricity, gasoline, natural gas), food and groceries, housing and utilities, transportation, and health care and insurance. It would identify groups more sensitive to price changes, like low-income households, seniors, and rural communities, and would describe regional differences and key assumptions and methods used. Agencies would publish the statement in the Federal Register and on their website at the time a rule is proposed. The rules would begin 60 days after enactment, and no new appropriations would be authorized for implementing this Act.
