Quarterly Defense food procurement audits
If enacted, this bill would require the Department of Defense Inspector General to run an initial audit no later than 90 days after enactment. Audits would then occur every quarter to check compliance with section 4862 of title 10 regarding procurement of the items listed in subsection (b)(1)(A). The Inspector General would have to send each audit report to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees within 60 days after the audit ends. This would raise oversight of how the Department buys food and could mean more compliance reviews for DoD procurement offices and domestic food suppliers.
