Geese House Site Conveyance Act
Sponsored By: Representative Begich, Nicholas J. [R-AK-At Large]
Introduced
Summary
Transfers about 21,578 acres in Denali National Park and Preserve to Doyon, Limited. The bill would require the Secretary of the Interior to convey that specific parcel as soon as practicable but no later than one year after enactment. The conveyance would be subject to valid existing rights and would reserve public easements under section 17(b) of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. It would exclude two lots and the land under Chilchukabena Lake and an unnamed lake. Doyon could not sell the land to anyone other than the United States. The company could not allow mining or mineral activity or permit development that would derogate the cultural value of the Geese House. The land would be treated as a conveyance under ANCSA section 14(h)(8) and the Secretary would adjust the Denali park boundary to exclude the conveyed area. The Secretary could make minor survey or clerical corrections with Doyon's written approval and the conveyance would not be subject to part 2650 or any past or existing withdrawal.

Transfer Geese House site to Doyon
This bill would transfer about 21,578 acres in Denali National Park and Preserve to Doyon, Limited. The Secretary of the Interior must complete the transfer as soon as practicable. The transfer must happen no later than one year after enactment and would be subject to valid existing rights. The transfer would exclude lots 1 and 2 in sections 31 and 32 and land under Chilchukabena Lake and an unnamed lake (U.S. Survey No. 12799, dated July 24, 2002). The Secretary would reserve public easements required by law (ANCSA section 17(b)). The Secretary would adjust the Denali park boundary to remove the conveyed land and, to the extent practicable, match the map dated April 14, 2026. Doyon, Limited would not be allowed to sell the land except back to the United States, authorize mining or mineral activities on the land, or permit development that would derogate the cultural value or significance of the Geese House. The Secretary could make minor survey or legal-description corrections with Doyon, Limited's written approval, and the conveyance would not be subject to part 2650 of title 43, CFR or any past or existing withdrawal.
