Extend rural Medicare hospital program

This bill would extend the rural community hospital demonstration from 15 years to 20 years. If enacted, the Secretary of Health and Human Services would update statute language and cross-references from "15-year" to "20-year." During the fourth five-year segment of the new 20-year extension, the Secretary would apply the paragraph (4) rules to rural community hospitals that are not already covered by paragraph (4) but that participated in the demonstration at any time between December 30, 2024 and January 1, 2027. This change would likely help some rural hospitals and the Medicare patients they serve stay in the demonstration longer.
