More Type 1 diabetes screening outreach
If enacted, the bill would require the Secretary of Health and Human Services, through the CDC, to run a national, evidence-based campaign on type 1 diabetes detection, screening, and management. The campaign would produce public service announcements and written materials and share them by TV, radio, social media, the internet, schools, and trusted figures. It would fund culturally and linguistically tailored resources and test messages for communities with the largest recent increases in type 1 diabetes. The Secretary could give grants to nonprofits and to State, local, and Tribal health departments to boost local screening programs and to share where people can get screened. The bill would authorize $5,000,000 each year for fiscal years 2027 through 2031, available until spent.
