Preeclampsia test guidance for Medicaid and CHIP

If enacted, HHS would issue guidance to States and Medicaid managed care organizations within 180 days on best practices for early screening, detection, and care for preeclampsia for pregnant women on Medicaid or CHIP. The guidance would identify which early-detection tests may be furnished as medical assistance, including advanced biomarker tests cleared as devices and lab-developed tests from high-complexity certified labs. If a State requests help about whether a specific test can be paid for under Medicaid or CHIP, HHS would provide technical assistance within 30 days. A State would not have to request this help or change coverage to keep receiving federal matching funds.
