Study of Scipio A. Jones House
This bill would require the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of the Scipio A. Jones House in Little Rock, Arkansas. The study would evaluate national significance and whether the house could be a National Historic Landmark, an Affiliated Area, or part of the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site. It would consider preservation, protection, and interpretation options by Federal, State, local, Tribal, private, and nonprofit actors and would consult interested parties. The study would not consider options that involve Federal acquisition of the property, but it would identify cost estimates for any Federal acquisition, development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance associated with alternatives. If funds are provided, the Secretary would submit a report to the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources not later than 3 years after funds are first made available.
