Summary
Directs a federal study to map where rail electrification, fuel cell, or battery technologies could be used on passenger routes between Florida and Washington, DC. The bill called the Southeastern Rail Technologies Mapping Act of 2026 would require the Federal Railroad Administration to identify corridor segments that are suitable for those power systems and to list the challenges to implementation. For segments the agency finds unsuitable it must explain why, recommend corridor updates that would allow the technology, and provide estimated costs. The agency would submit a report to Congress within 18 months of enactment.
