Summary
Honors the Artemis II crew with Congressional Gold Medals. This bill would authorize the Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate to present gold medals on behalf of Congress and require the Secretary of the Treasury to strike medals that depict the four astronauts. The Secretary could also strike and sell bronze duplicate medals at prices set to cover production costs. The medals would be classified as national medals and as numismatic items under title 31. Costs may be charged to the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund and proceeds from duplicate sales would be returned to that fund.

Make and sell Artemis II medals
If enacted, the bill would direct Congress leaders to present Congressional Gold Medals to the Artemis II crew. The Secretary of the Treasury would strike gold medals depicting the four astronauts, with emblems and inscriptions set by the Secretary. The Secretary would be allowed to strike and sell duplicate bronze copies under rules the Secretary sets, and those duplicates must be sold at prices that cover production costs like labor, materials, dies, machinery, and overhead. Proceeds from bronze sales would be deposited into the U.S. Mint Public Enterprise Fund, and the Mint could charge that Fund to pay medal production costs. The medals would be treated as national medals and as numismatic items under federal law (31 U.S.C. rules).
