If adopted, the resolution would urge the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights to get enough staff to prevent and respond to sex discrimination in schools. It would say OCR should enforce Title IX protections for all students, including for sexual orientation, gender identity, sex characteristics, and pregnancy or related conditions. It would ask OCR to use resources for timely complaint processing, prevention, and resolution, and it would say OCR must not be used to marginalize or harm transgender, nonbinary, or intersex students. It would also call on the executive branch to help schools prevent and respond to sex-based harassment and violence, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and sex-based stalking.
