Commemorating the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on July 6, 2025, as "A Day of Compassion", and expressing support for the human rights, religious freedom, and cultural and linguistic protection of the Tibetan people.

Sponsored By: Representative McCaul, Michael T. [R-TX-10]

Introduced

Summary

Marks the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday and would designate July 6, 2025 as "A Day of Compassion." The resolution would congratulate him for promoting peace, nonviolence, interfaith understanding, and human rights. It affirms the Tibetan people's rights to religious, cultural, linguistic, and national identity and restates that Tibetan Buddhist leaders' selection belongs to the Tibetan Buddhist community and the present Dalai Lama for a future 15th Dalai Lama. It also declares any attempt by the Government of the People's Republic of China to identify or install Tibetan Buddhist leaders as invalid interference and encourages presenting the resolution to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
