Sponsored By: Representative Green, Al [D-TX-9]
Introduced
Summary
Recognize and thank the 25th Army Corps for capturing Galveston and liberating thousands of enslaved people in Texas. This resolution would honor the 25th Army Corps of the Union Army for those actions and notes that the corps was the largest African American unit in the Union Army with more than 1,000 soldiers, that it was the first unit to occupy Richmond on April 3, 1864, and that members who had been enslaved helped free others and advance the cause of human rights.
