Summary
Protects Ruby Mountains and Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge from mineral leasing. This bill would withdraw about 309,272 acres of National Forest System land in the Ruby Mountains subdistrict and about 39,926 acres of the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge from all forms of mineral leasing, subject to valid existing rights.

If enacted, this bill would block new mineral leases on about 309,272 acres in the Ruby Mountains subdistrict. Valid existing mineral rights would still be honored. Land the U.S. acquires later in that subdistrict would also be withdrawn. The Forest Service would keep a map of the withdrawn area on file for public inspection.

If enacted, this bill would block new mineral leases on about 39,926.10 acres in the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Valid existing mineral rights would still be honored. Noncommercial refuge management by the Fish and Wildlife Service would be allowed. Land the U.S. acquires later in the refuge would also be withdrawn. The Fish and Wildlife Service would keep a map of the withdrawn area on file for public inspection.
