Show full summary
- Veterans and current service members would more often see a clear prompt on the mortgage form that they may qualify for VA direct or guaranteed home loans.
- The Federal Housing Finance Agency would be required to order enterprises that use the URLA, such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to add the disclaimer within six months.
- The Government Accountability Office would study adoption and report within 18 months on whether at least 80% of lenders using the URLA included the notice.

VA notice on mortgage application for veterans
If enacted, the bill would require a VA notice on the Uniform Residential Loan Application (URLA). The notice must appear below the military service question and say: "If yes, you may qualify for a VA Home Loan. Consult your lender regarding eligibility." The Director would have to issue the rule within 6 months of enactment. The GAO would study adoption and report within 18 months, checking whether at least 80% of lenders using the URLA included the notice.
