- People whose Social Security number (SSN) is misused would get a single, accountable contact. That contact would follow the case and coordinate across SSA to resolve fraud, affected records, or a Social Security card lost in transit.
- Social Security staff would form a team of specially trained employees to serve as those contacts. Team members may change as needed, but procedures must preserve case history and notify the individual when appropriate.
- The requirement would take effect 180 days after enactment.
