New national protections for roadless forests
If enacted, this bill would define an "inventoried roadless area" as land where the Roadless Rule limits roads or logging. It would treat the Roadless Rule text from January 12, 2001, and specified later Idaho and Colorado changes as the baseline. It would say the "Secretary" means the Secretary of Agriculture acting through the Forest Service Chief. It would bar the Secretary from allowing road construction, road reconstruction, or logging in inventoried roadless areas where the Roadless Rule forbids those activities.
