American Grown Act

Would require federal agencies to prefer U.S.-grown cut flowers and cut greens in purchases. It would cover the Executive Office of the President, the Department of Defense, and the Department of State. Funds could be used to buy these items only if they are grown in a qualifying area such as a State, the District of Columbia, a U.S. territory or possession, or land under a federally recognized Indian Tribe. The restriction would apply to procurements made or contracted in the United States beginning one year after enactment. Agencies could accept a foreign-grown floral gift only if the origin is clearly displayed at delivery and the agency also procures a domestic-grown item to display during the same period.
