Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

More early fibroid detection help

If enacted, this bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services to research ways to find uterine fibroids earlier and to make evidence-based detection strategies. The Secretary would be required to finalize those strategies quickly so states can use them. If enacted, the bill would also let the federal government award grants to states to run screening and public awareness programs. State programs could use grant money to pay for screening tests and advanced gynecological imaging, provide patient navigation services, implement the HHS strategies, and help people get to health care settings.

Grants for uterine research

If enacted, the bill would allow the Department of Health and Human Services to award grants to states to conduct research on uterine fibroid care. Research could include clinical trials and would explicitly cover disparities in pain control during fibroid surgery and conditions like Asherman's Syndrome and intrauterine adhesions. Grants would support state-led studies and related activities and would take effect upon enactment.
