No Argentina Bailout Act

Summary
Would block the Treasury's Exchange Stabilization Fund from bailing out Argentina. This bill would bar the fund from providing direct or indirect financial support to Argentina, including currency swap lines, buying pesos or Argentine sovereign debt, or extending credit. It would require any existing financial contracts that violate the ban to be sold or ended within 7 days of enactment. The prohibition would expire on December 10, 2027.

Ban on Treasury bailout for Argentina
If enacted, the Treasury would not be able to use the Exchange Stabilization Fund (ESF) to give direct or indirect financial support to Argentina. That includes currency swap lines, buying Argentine pesos, buying Argentine sovereign debt, and making credit or loans. Any ESF deal made before enactment that violates this would have to be sold or ended within 7 days. The ban would expire on December 10, 2027.
