S3065119th CongressWALLET

LABEL Act

Sponsored By: Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith

Introduced

Summary

Requires clear country-of-origin and production-method labels for fish. This bill would amend the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 to require both farm‑raised and wild fish to display country-of-origin and method-of-production information in a conspicuous location, readable under normal purchase conditions, and in a font at least as large as the font used to describe the fish on the package, display, holding unit, or bin. The requirement would take effect 180 days after enactment and would rely on existing authorities under the Agricultural Marketing Act for implementation.
