More temporary lodging for military families
If enacted, the bill would let the VA provide temporary lodging in Fisher Houses or similar facilities to more people. Service members, people on active duty, and veterans could be eligible. Family members or others who give the equivalent of familial support could also stay when someone must travel a significant distance for care. Use would be on a space-available basis. Fisher Houses must be facilities near VA medical centers that were constructed by and donated by the Fisher foundations. The Secretary would set the rules for space-available access. This change would take effect upon enactment.
