Tractor safety grants for farmers and schools

This bill would let eligible farmers and eligible schools get grants to buy, move, and install approved rollover protection structures (ROPS) on tractors. The grant would cover 70% of documented purchase, transport, and installation costs. If documented costs exceed $500, the Secretary could raise the grant share for those costs. Applicants would apply to a Program Administrator chosen by the Secretary, who would check eligibility and tell the Secretary how much to pay. Approved ROPS would need a seatbelt and meet SAE J2194 or SAE J1194 standards. The bill would authorize $725,000 a year for 2027–2031, with $500,000 for grants, $125,000 for a website, and $100,000 for a phone hotline.
