Authorizes temporary, virtual-only participation in the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP). - Medicare beneficiaries: Could take MDPP fully online and may re-enroll without a cap, expanding remote access for people served by out-of-state suppliers.
- MDPP suppliers and entities: Could operate as online-only MDPP providers if they meet existing MDPP supplier enrollment rules and can bill Medicare regardless of the beneficiary’s State at the time of service.
- Program administration: Establishes this change as a temporary pilot for 2026–2029, lets the HHS Secretary implement it by program instruction, and relies on current regulatory definitions in 42 C.F.R. § 410.79(b).

More virtual Medicare diabetes options
If enacted, this bill would let entities offer the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program using only distance-learning or online services from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2029. You would be able to enroll in the program an unlimited number of times during that period. Providers that meet MDPP supplier enrollment rules would be able to submit claims even if you were in a different State when the service was given. The Secretary would be able to implement these rules by program instruction, and the bill relies on definitions in 42 C.F.R. § 410.79(b).
