Study for Dakota Mainstem water
If enacted, the Secretary of the Interior would carry out a feasibility study on building a water project for the Dakota Mainstem service area in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota. The Department would work through a cooperative agreement with the Dakota Mainstem Regional Water System, Inc., and follow Bureau of Reclamation feasibility standards. Congress would be authorized to appropriate $10,000,000 for the study, and the Federal share of study costs would not exceed 50 percent. The authority to do the study would start on enactment and would expire 10 years after enactment. This would fund planning only and would not build the water project.
