Stops federal funding for gun registries
If enacted, the bill would bar any Federal agency from funding or otherwise supporting the establishment or maintenance of a State firearm ownership database. A "State firearm ownership database" would mean a state or local database that lists firearms lawfully owned or possessed by people, or lists people who lawfully own or possess firearms. The ban would not apply to databases that list guns reported lost or stolen, or people who reported their guns lost or stolen. The rule would apply to all States and U.S. territories and the provided text does not create new penalties, enforcement procedures, or an effective date.
