More mental health crisis response teams
If enacted, the bill would let the community policing grant program pay to start or expand mobile crisis teams. It would also fund co-responder programs and case management and outreach teams. Grants would pay to hire mental health clinicians, paramedics, law enforcement partners, case managers, staff, training, and mobile units. Teams would respond to some 911 calls and direct community requests, stabilize encounters, and connect people in crisis to mental health services. Teams would also follow up to help people stick to treatment plans and reduce repeat emergency calls.
