More preparedness grants for specialty crops
This bill would raise grant funding for specialty crop pest and disease preparedness. It would replace the $5,000,000 figure in subsection (g) with $12,000,000. It would also authorize $150,000,000 for fiscal year 2027 and each fiscal year thereafter to carry out activities under the subsection. When using funds made available to carry out this section, the Secretary would be required to prioritize cooperative agreements that carry out activities in high-risk States. Small specialty crop farmers and related small businesses in those prioritized areas would be most likely to receive those grants.
