Florida freeze disaster farm grants
If enacted, the bill would provide $3.5 billion to the Secretary of Agriculture for State block grants to help farms hit by the March 4, 2026 freeze disaster. The funds would pay for lost revenue, lower crop quality, reduced production, and prevented plantings and would include compensation for multi-year crop losses. Grants would only cover losses in counties the Secretary designated on March 4, 2026 and would be made available when a State agriculture department or other State agency requests them. The money would be for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2027, remain available until expended, be designated an emergency, and the Secretary would report to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees within 120 days after enactment and each fiscal quarter until the funds are spent.
