- Federal agencies would have to identify all covered equity investments and sell them. Covered investments are defined to include shares, partnership or membership interests, warrants or options, golden shares or other governance instruments, and contractual rights tied to IPOs or spin‑offs. Liquidation would occur no later than 8 years after enactment or 8 years after any later acquisition.
- Private companies that currently host federal equity would see those government stakes removed, including any golden shares or enhanced governance rights that give the government board seats or veto power.
- Proceeds from sales would be transmitted to the Treasury and used to pay down the national debt.
*This would channel sale proceeds to the Treasury to reduce the federal government's outstanding debt.*

Agencies must sell private company stakes
If enacted, the bill would require each Federal agency to find and sell any ownership it holds in private, for‑profit companies. Covered investments would include common or preferred stock, partnership or membership interests, warrants or options, "golden shares" that give extra control, and contracts that can force an IPO or spin‑off. Agencies would have up to 8 years to sell each holding, and holdings bought after enactment would have an 8‑year deadline counted from the purchase date. The head of each selling agency would have to send all sale proceeds to the Treasury to be used to pay down the national debt.
