Grants to fight senior loneliness
This bill would create a new HHS grant and training program to address social isolation and loneliness for older adults and adults with disabilities. The Department would get $62,500,000 each year for fiscal years 2026 through 2030, available until expended. Grants to area agencies on aging and community groups would fund outreach using screening tools, community-based interventions (including Secretary-defined evidence-based programs), connections to social and clinical supports, and program evaluation. The bill would also fund training for those groups, allow prioritizing medical-legal partnership models, require coordination with Older Americans Act programs, and require reports to Congress every three years starting within three years of enactment.
