More Export-Import Bank support for quantum firms
This bill would amend Section 2(l)(1)(B)(v) of the Export-Import Bank Act of 1945 (12 U.S.C. 635(l)(1)(B)(v)). It would replace the phrase "Quantum computing." with "Quantum information science and technology." This would broaden the law's covered technologies and would expand the types of exporter projects the Bank would be able to consider under the Program on China and Transformational Exports. If enacted, U.S. exporters and companies working in quantum information science and technology would see more projects fall within that program and would be more likely to be eligible for Export-Import Bank support. The change would take effect upon enactment and would not itself provide new funding or change eligibility rules beyond this wording substitution.
