More outreach for underserved farmers
If enacted, this bill would extend the Section 2501 outreach authorization by changing the date references from 2019–2023 to 2027–2031 and by changing a 2023 date to 2031. It would add interpretation and translation services to outreach and technical assistance rules. The Secretary would decide when those services are useful. Grant applicants would get priority if they provide those services and would need to include plans to offer them.
New five-year farm data reports
If enacted, the bill would require USDA to compile county- and State-level data by March 31, 2028 and every five years after. The data would include base acres and payment yields for each program crop, the number of disaster program waivers and premium reductions, the number of guaranteed loans, Forest Service grazing permit allocations, and the race, ethnicity, and gender of each farmer covered, subject to privacy protections. The bill would also require two separate reporting tracks and that each report submitted contain data.
