Protect military homeowners from losing property
If enacted, time you spend on active-duty military service would not count when someone tries to meet the legal time needed to claim your real property by adverse possession. This would help servicemembers and their families keep ownership of homes and land while they are away on duty. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs would have 45 days after enactment to consult with the Attorney General and update the VA website and other relevant sites. Those updates would include how to secure and lease property, landlord-tenant rights, and other related resources.
