Reproductive Health Travel Fund Act of 2026

Help paying travel for abortion

This bill would create a Reproductive Health Travel Grants program run by the Treasury Secretary. It would authorize $350 million each year for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to award grants to eligible nonprofit and community groups. Grants would pay travel and support costs for people seeking abortion care, including round‑trip travel, lodging, meals, childcare, translation services, doula care, patient education, and lost wages. Grantees could use up to 15 percent of a grant for organizational costs, but funds could not pay for the abortion procedure itself. The Secretary would have to begin taking applications within 30 days, give priority to groups serving people in places with bans or severe restrictions or those who travel across jurisdictions for care, and report to Congress within 180 days and then yearly. The section would override State, Tribal, territorial, and local laws that bar use of these funds and would bar federal cooperation with anti‑abortion investigations, prosecutions, or civil suits tied to the program.
