If enacted, this bill would extend the authority to run Social Security disability experiments and demonstrations through December 31, 2030 for projects and December 31, 2031 for the authority. It would extend waiver authority to December 31, 2030 and lengthen a required timeframe from 90 days to 120 days. Each experiment would have to specify and use evaluation metrics. Administrative costs for demonstrations would be paid from Title II administration funds, and participant benefits would be paid from the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance or Disability Insurance Trust Fund as the Commissioner decides. The bill would add a rule that an individual's total income would not be reduced because of participation. These changes would take effect on January 1, 2027.
