Study of manufactured homes in disasters
This bill would require HUD to hire an independent research group within 90 days. The group would study how manufactured homes built to current federal Standards perform in high risk areas such as floods, wildfires, hurricanes, earthquakes, and extreme heat. HUD would publish a report within 180 days to the House and Senate committees and on its website, prepared by at least one independent, non‑partisan research organization. The report would give recommendations to update construction and installation Standards, estimate implementation timeframes, assess upfront and long‑term cost and affordability effects, and identify data gaps and ways to improve post‑event data collection.
