More service opportunities for men and young adults
This bill would require national and community service programs to give priority to recruiting and training people who are underrepresented in service, including men and young adults. Priority would apply to youth mentoring and coaching, after-school support, conservation corps positions, disaster response, public safety or reentry support, and skilled-trade apprenticeships. The Director would also give assignment preference and project selection would favor programs that recruit these participants. These changes would take effect upon enactment and do not create new cash payments.
