This bill would lock in the current official names of the five Great Lakes and block federal renaming efforts. It would also nullify Executive Order 14422, which renamed Lake Ontario as Lake America, and bar federal actions that carry out similar renamings.

- Federal officials and presidential actions: It would prohibit the President, the Secretary of the Interior, and any federal officer or employee acting under presidential authority from altering the official geographic names of Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, or Lake Ontario.
- Executive Order 14422: It would declare that Executive Order null and void and bar the President and other federal officers from issuing, implementing, administering, or enforcing that order or any substantially similar action.
- Federal funding: It would prohibit the use of any Federal funds to implement, administer, or otherwise give effect to that Executive Order or any substantially similar Executive Order or action.

Blocks renaming of the Great Lakes
This bill would bar the President, the Interior Secretary, and federal employees from changing the official names of the five Great Lakes. Those are Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario. It would declare Executive Order 14422 (issued August 27, 2026) to have no force or effect. It would also forbid issuing, implementing, or funding any executive action that carries out that order or is substantially similar. The prohibitions would take effect upon enactment.
