- States and transportation agencies would lose NEVI formula money and access to the charging and fueling infrastructure grant authority, removing a federal funding source for statewide charging networks.
- Charging station companies and local builders would lose competitive grant support and formula funding, making it harder to finance or expand large-scale charging projects.
- Electric vehicle drivers and potential buyers could see slower growth of public charging nationwide because the federal programs that supported station deployment would be terminated.

States and builders lose EV grants
This bill would end two federal programs that pay for electric vehicle charging. It would remove the IIJA authority for charging and fueling infrastructure grants and strike related rules in 23 U.S.C. 151. It would also rescind unobligated IIJA NEVI amounts and terminate the NEVI formula program beginning on the date of enactment. If enacted, states, local governments, planning groups, and companies that build or run EV chargers would lose those grant and formula dollars. That could slow deployment of public EV chargers, especially along highway corridors.
