New task force for farm exporters
If enacted, the President would have 30 days to set up an Agricultural Trade Enforcement Task Force. The Task Force would find foreign rules that block U.S. farm exports and plan how to challenge them under the WTO and other trade pacts. It would consult regularly with the private sector, other agencies, and like-minded trading partners. The group must report to Congress within 90 days and then at least every three months. The first report must include a plan to request WTO consultations about India’s agricultural price supports, list claims and a timeline, and say the U.S. would seek a WTO panel if India does not offer a satisfactory compliance path within 60 days. The Task Force would remove confidential business information from public reports, but brief cleared congressional staff on that material.
